Specific conductance and temperature data from I8 Inlet, near Toolik Field Station, Alaska, summer 2011

Abstract:

As a part of the CSASN project, background (or ambient) specific conductance and stream water temperature was continuously monitored in three streams within the Toolik Inlet watershed from 2010 - 2012 summer/fall seasons. HOBO U24 data loggers were used for data acquisition. The data included in this file is from I8 Inlet stream, 2011 season.

Methods:

A HOBO U24 freshwater conductivity logger was deployed at the channel bottom of I8 Inlet stream, near Toolik Field Station, Alaska. The logger was housed at the bottom of the stream within a perforated pvc casing, the pvc casing was secured to the stream bottom with rebar. Data was collected at 10 minute intervals. The logger collects temperature data, high-end and low-end conductivity. HOBOWarePro software was used to convert the low-end conductivity signal to specific conductance by using a linear temperature compensation method (2.1% /degree centigrade). The data logger was periodically removed from the stream to download, and sometimes relaunch the data logger as needed. The data file comments here indicate when the logger was connected to, stopped, and downloaded.
